San Francisco Seals provides a full-age pathway in MLS NEXT!
With roots dating back to 1982, the SF Seals proudly stands as San Francisco's oldest youth soccer club, with a history that is unmatched. Having been awarded MLS NEXT full pathway, Seals can continue our legacy of developing soccer players and supporting them in their youth soccer journey and beyond.
Seals will field six MLS Next development teams, that includes U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U19 teams. Teams train 3-4 x a week and play league games. In addition, we have systematically added U12 Pre-MLS Next age group that will play NPL, under the NorCal Premier banner.
The SF Seals MLS Next partnership focuses on creating an elite training environment for top-tier players to develop and compete at the highest level of youth soccer. With a commitment to innovation and providing access and representation, Seals MLS NEXT players receive the best training and coaching as they prepare for their futures, both in soccer and in life.
Currently offered for boys but girls may be rostered.

The MLS NEXT connects our players directly into the MLS NEXT pathway, the premier youth development platform in the United States. This is the same structure utilized by professional MLS academies to identify and prepare the next generation of professional players. Through this model, athletes train and compete in an environment built for the highest levels of development, with a pathway to collegiate, professional, and national team opportunities.
Seals has established itself as a leader in player advancement to MLS academy programs, collegiate levels, professional and national team opportunities. Seals focus on player development continues to strengthen that pipeline now and in the future.

In contrast to other Clubs (non-MLS Academies), SF Seals maintains a steady dedication to player development, ensuring that our MLS Next players are thoroughly prepared for their future endeavors and empowered to pursue their goals. Any MLS Academy interested in training and signing our players can be confident that SF Seals will actively support and facilitate discussions for potential transfers.

The MLS NEXT name reflects its direct connection to the MLS Player Pathway, serving as the top level of competition in the program.
PLAYER VISIBILITY
Players within the MLS NEXT system participate in events and league matches that are closely connected to MLS academies and professional organizations, creating real opportunities and visibility for talented players ready for the next level.
EVENTS & EXPOSURE
MLS NEXT offers the best events for high level exposure to MLS academies, college programs, and international professional clubs.
MLS NEXT FEST (December)
NEXT FEST is the largest youth soccer National Showcase in the United States. Teams from across the country compete in front of hundreds of college, MLS, and national team scouts. The showcase is attended by over 500 college, national team, and professional scouts. It provides one of the most important exposure opportunities of the season.
SF Seals U16, U17 and U19 MLS NEXT players are expected to travel annually to MLS NEXT FEST (held in December). Younger age groups (U13 - U15) are strongly encouraged to participate in FEST.
Other important events include MLS NEXT Flex and MLS NEXT Cup, two competitions that require teams to qualify. Participation in these events will be expected for all MLS NEXT Homegrown (HG) teams should the team qualify.
